Aseptic or sterile processes make particularly high demands on the hygienic properties of bio and pharmaceutical products.
Special requirements must also be met by the fittings used in processing plant in order to minimize the harmful effect of spores or fine particulate residues. Undesirable bacterial growth must be effectively prevented. The sterile conditions that are essential in the manufacture of insulin are a typical example.
Contamination of the end product by impurities can only be prevented by taking measures that ensure maximum cleanliness and sterility.
