Mini Lumistar luminaires: USL 01 and USL 31, stainless steel

Fully Sealed Lumistar Sight Glass Luminaire with cover glass, compact, all stainless steel

USL 01: for general applications, mounted with hinged bracketclamp fastening or flanged adapter collar
USL 31: special variant for sterile environments with adapter collar for fitting over flanges, etc.

Perfect combination of flush screwed assembly and smooth surface:

This sight glass luminaire is designed for mounting on sight glass fittings in universal applications.

It is ideal for illuminating bioreactors, laboratory mixers and filters as well as the interiors of tanks, agitators, separators, pipelines and other, usually closed, vessels in non-explosive operating environments.

It is ideal for use in combined sight and light ports (single-flange version) or arranged separately (two-flange version). The integrated fastening clamp enables convenient mounting on a Lumiglas sight glass wiper assembly SW I.

Compact design; powerful light output:

Glare-free illumination; suitable for use with circular sight glass fittings to DIN 28120 / DIN 28121 or similar, or with screw-type sight glass fittings in compliance with DIN 11851.

Application in chemical, pharmaceutical, biogas and food processing industries:

Protection class: Dust- and waterjet proof, IP 65 according to EN 60 529 / DIN VDE 0470, Part 1

Outside diameter: 24 mm

Lumiglas® Luminaires

Luminaires illuminate process vessel interiors in pharmaceutical, food processing, and chemical plants.

Choose from standard Luminaires (Non-Ex) and explosion-proof Luminaires (Ex) housings as well as halogen or LED designs.

Some applications require safe, high-intensity illumination for sight glasses, ports, or general applications in hazardous (classified) locations.

Lumiglas luminaires are available with aluminum or stainless steel construction and, depending on the size and wattage, can be equipped with momentary push button switches for safety and longevity. Remote or pneumatic timers and pushbutton switches are also available as Lumiglas light accessories. A new series of  Lumiglas LED Luminaires is now available.

In short, the luminaire is the entire device and the lamp is the specific replaceable component that produces light.

“A lamp is a light source that is placed in a luminaire!”

light fixture (US English), light fitting (UK English), or luminaire is an electrical device used to create artificial light by use of an electric lamp. All light fixtures have a fixture body and a light socket to hold the lamp and allow for its replacement.

Sight Glass Lights

There are many considerations for selecting the optimum light to illuminate your process vessel. This online guide walks you through the steps.

Dedicated or Separate Light Port

Often process vessels have two sight glass windows: one port for viewing and a separate port for the light. The light is typically mounted directly over the light port. To save cost or space, some vessels combine light and sight at one window. The light is typically mounted with a bracket, although sight glasses are available with integrated lights (combo style).

LED or Halogen

Traditional halogen lights use trusted incandescent light bulbs. LED lights offer brighter light, lower energy consumption, and longer life (lower maintenance costs.) Halogen light brightness is selected by wattage: 5 to 100 Watts, with 50 Watts typical. LED light brightness is selected by lumens: 1000 to 3000 lumens.

Explosion Proof or Non-Explosion Proof

Some industrial environments require explosion proof lights (ex lights) that are sealed so they cannot introduce a spark into the atmosphere. The widest selection of ex lights are halogen style, although explosion proof LED lights are also available.

Stainless Steel or Aluminum Housing

Virtually all sight glass lights use stainless steel housings. A few ex light models are available with aluminum housing, lowering their cost while removing heat more efficiently.

Available Power Supply

Most lights are available in a range of voltage options. Make sure that the model you select will work with the power you have available: 120 VAC, 24 VDC/VAC, 230 VAC, 12 VDC/VAC.

When deciding upon a proper luminaire for your application, be sure to consider all of the properties of the light. The size, weight, voltage, wattage, materials of construction, mounting configuration, and light pattern (Lux diagram) are all very important factors you should be aware of.
