DEKRA clearly explains the topic of “explosion protection” in a video that we link to here (YouTube link).
Since 1 July 2003, EG Directive 94/9/EG and its conformity assessment procedure must be applied to equipment and protective systems intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres operating at atmospheric pressure and temperature conditions (-20 ° C to -40 ° C) 80 ° C and total pressures from 0.8 bar to 1.1 bar absolute). As the device is understood in the scope of any electrical and non-electrical equipment that represents a potential ignition source. These include lights, cabinets or electrical sensors that can cause ignition by sparks, arcs or hot surfaces. However, the directive also includes clutches, fans, compressors or rotary valves, which may be considered as sources of ignition due to possible hot surfaces or damage due to the sparking of mutually contacting clutches, fans, compressors or rotary valves.
The requirements for devices intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres increase from Category 3 to Cat. 2 / M2 to Category 1 / M1. While for Category 3 equipment, the manufacturer can demonstrate conformity through internal production controls, the other categories must have a notified body turned on and their identification number indicated on the Ex-label of the equipment. The devices may undergo individual tests or the conformity of the device with the EG Directive may be demonstrated, for example, by an EG type examination in conjunction with a certified quality system (in conjunction with ISO 9000) of the manufacturer. Chapter 2 of the guideline describes the possible module combinations and the annexes to the guideline describe the modules in more detail.
The second group covered by the directive is protection systems. These include, for example, flame arresters that locally limit an explosion or automatic fire extinguishing equipment. Autonomous protection systems, like devices of category 1 / M1, must be inspected by a notified body.
For devices and protective systems that are not covered by the operating conditions [temperature / pressure] within the scope of the directive, the explosion protection must be demonstrated as part of the risk assessment according to the German Industrial Safety Ordinance.

The Forum of the Pharmaceutical, Biopharmaceutical and Laboratory Technology Industry will celebrate it’s seventh edition in 2021. Once again, the IFEMA facilities have been selected, in particular Hall 7 of the Madrid Fair.
In recent years, Farmaforum has established itself as the most important event for the pharmaceutical industry in Spain, expanding its theme and exploiting synergies with the biotechnology and cosmetics industries through the special Biotech Forum and Cosméticaforum sections.
The Farmaforum consists of an exhibition area and an extensive programme of conferences, workshops and also offers many opportunities for networking.
2021 will also see the third edition of the Laboratory Forum, materials, instruments, equipment and methods for analysis and diagnosis in the laboratory. A complementary and parallel exhibition to Farmaforum, focusing on the new generation of any research or analysis laboratory. With the integration of the Health & Research Forum, we will introduce the world of research to our forum. The pharmaceutical, biotechnology and cosmetics industries, among other sectors, depend on advances in research to bring their products to market. Accelerating these processes to ensure quality and safety has a direct impact on the cost of a new development and is therefore of utmost importance for companies.

Lumiglas – the observation of process operations taking place
inside pressure and vacuum vessels, tanks, reactors, silo units, filters and other plant demands perfect illumination and unhindered visual check.
that is what lumiglas offers.
Lumiglas stands for sight and light ; for ideal visual control.
These inspections are carried out either by the process operative directly on the spot or without the need to access the plant, by means of the Lumiglas VISULEX Ex camera system. The combination of light and sight glass, created by Papenmeier- the first of many Lumiglas patents- is the ideal low cost solution for the user: the additional cut-out for a second sight port in the case of separate ports is avoided.

Explosion protection
As of July 2003, organizations in EU must follow the directives to protect employees from explosion risk in areas with an explosive atmosphere.
There are two ATEX directives (one for the manufacturer and one for the user of the equipment):
the ATEX 95 equipment directive 94/9/EC, Equipment and protective systems intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres;
the ATEX 137 workplace directive 99/92/EC, Minimum requirements for improving the safety and health protection of workers potentially at risk from explosive atmospheres.
The ATEX 94/9/EU that is dedicated to the manufacturer has changed. Always applicable up to 19 April 2016 the ATEX 94/9/EC will be removed and replaced by a new directive.
This new ATEX directive was published on Saturday 29 March 2014, under the new reference : Directive 2014/34/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 26 February 2014 on the harmonisation of the laws of the Member States relating to equipment and protective systems intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres (recast) Text with EEA relevance – Official Journal of the European Union L 96 from 29/03/2014.
This new ATEX directive 2014/34/EU will be mandatory for manufacturer on 20 April 2016 as is stated in article 44 of the directive.
Promised for a long time, this new ATEX directive has been published together with 8 other directives in the frame of NEW LEGISLATIVE FRAMEWORK (NLF) ALIGNMENT PACKAGE (Implementation of the Goods Package). It was the subject of a “COMMUNICATION FROM THE COMMISSION TO THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND THE COUNCIL” for the Alignment of ten technical harmonisation directives to Decision No 768/2008/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 9 July 2008 on a common framework for the marketing of products, in Brussels, 21.11.2011 under reference COM(2011) 763 final.
